The annual Mayanup Campdraft was held last weekend but unfortunately I only managed to get down there for a little while on Sunday afternoon, so I won't be creating a gallery for this event (but if you competed Sunday afternoon and would like photos please let me know).
There were some beautiful horses as usual, and the odd cantankerous cow:)
Here are a few of my favourites from the afternoon.

The 2011 Boyup Brook Country Music Festival and Ute & Truck Muster saw our little town overflow with visitors from all around Australia during the festival which ran from 16-20 February.
Visiting artists included Troy Cassar-Daley, Peter Denahy, Loring Nicholson, Graham Rodger, Amber Joy Poulton, The Crack-Up Sisters and my personal fave, Cam McAzie - The Bad Piper (nothing quite like a punk playing rock music on the bagpipes at a Country Music Festival!).
Heres a few shots from Fridays concert in the park and Saturday's street Festival and Ute & Truck muster street parade.

The 2010 Upper Blackwood Agricultural Show is held every year on Melbourne Cup day at Dinninup.
I didn't take as many photos as I normally do at events as it was my youngest daughter's first ever competition...making my official duties for the day 'groom, strapper, food provider and personal photographer'!
The proof photographs of other competitors are available for viewing and ordering in the 2010 Equestrian Events Photography section of the website.

I went along to Harvey Dickson’s Rodeo down here at Boyup Brook to get some reference photos for some western and rodeo inspired paintings that I have planned. I can understand where the origins for many of the events lay – calf roping, bareback and saddle bronc…even the steer undecorating, but I really have to wonder who on earth first thought of trying to ride a full grown bull that would rather kill you? LOL, must have been a man with more bulls than brains;)
Here’s a few of my favourite shots.

The 10th Light Horse Bunbury Troop also put on a riding and Tent Pegging display at the Dardanup Heavy Horse Show at Heritage Park. Although Tent Pegging originated as a Military maneuver in which cavalry soldiers would gallop through enemy camps, using their lances and swords to remove tent pegs to collapse tents and cause confusion in order to gain the upper hand in a surprise attack.
Over time, tent pegging was used as a cavalry drill for weapons practice and as part of Military tournaments and competitions. The Australian State Mounted Police also used Tent Pegging for demonstrations of their riding skills, but it was not
